Three people are in Tauranga Hospital after an incident at the Port of Tauranga.

A spokeswoman for the Bay of Plenty District Health Board said the 50-year-old Te Puke man, 45-year-old Tauranga man and 45-year-old Tauranga woman were all in a stable condition.

All three arrived at Tauranga Hospital from the Port of Tauranga yesterday afternoon, she said.

It is not yet clear what happened.

Both the Fire Service and St John Ambulance say they were not called to the port this afternoon.

In a statement released last night, the Port of Tauranga said: "Port of Tauranga is aware that some workers went to Tauranga Hospital late Thursday afternoon. They are not employees of Port of Tauranga and Port of Tauranga's emergency staff were not required.

"All media enquiries should be directed to the company involved, ISO Limited."

The Bay of Plenty Times contacted ISO Limited this morning and was told the company had no comment.
