Three people have been arrested at a supermarket car park after a police chase through Tauranga.

The arrests were made at the Tauranga Countdown supermarket on Cameron Rd just after noon today.

Police Northern Communications Inspector Andy Brill said the chase started at about 11.50am in Ohauiti.

"Patrol units tried to stop a car in Ohauiti, the car declined to stop. The three juvenile occupants drove around Tauranga over about 15 minutes pursued by police. Major speeds weren't involved."

Inspector Brill said police eventually lost sight of the car, but received information from witnesses the offenders had run into the supermarket after dumping the car.
