Covid 19 coronavirus Delta cases: Lockdown in place, long queues at testing centres

Had the vaccination programme not been so far behind the rest of the world, this would not be the potential crisis that it is becoming.
- Richard
C

It has never been claimed that the vaccine will prevent someone catching Covid-19. It reduces the symptoms and serious effects of the virus only.
- John G

It is madness. The Health Ministry need to get their skates on and set up an efficient testing process for their medical and other staff when needed.
- Janet N

NSW will never live down this shame. Not only have they infected the rest of Australia with their complete failure to govern, but now they've infected NZ as well. Good job, Gladys.
- Steve E

Police join Coromandel residents at SH25 roadblock at Manaia

The sad reality when looking at this mob is that they're at a very high risk of catching Covid and spreading it to the very people they profess to protect. The police should move them on immediately or fine them for not staying at home as they should
- Mike C

It's a matter of time before someone gets killed.
- Tia W

Are those Aucklanders not ratepayers in Coromandel, meaning they are entitled to be there maybe?
- Paul E

It's the police's job here not a local mob. Where's the PPE etc. What a joke.
- Mike C

I don't blame these people at all. They are protecting their community. If you have a genuine need to travel then fair enough, but many don't.
- Scott C

Private citizens have no right to prevent people from using roads.
