Teen trail bike rider flown to Tauranga Hospital after breaking leg while setting up Taneatua ride

A 17-year-old male was flown to Tauranga Hospital after breaking his leg while setting up a trail bike ride in the Bay of Plenty.

The teen had been riding a bike down a steep hill in Taneatua where when he went over the handlebars and broke his leg on Saturday afternoon.

He was stabilised at the scene by paramedics before the Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter flew him to hospital for further treatment.
