A Te Puke woman is once again sporting a new look, having shaved her hair for a worthy cause before the lockdown started last week.
Te Puke Country Lodge care home manager Chris Boudet raised more than $1200 for Shave For a Cure.
Shave for a Cure is a communityof people who, with the opportunity to shave, spread the word and stand in solidarity with all New Zealanders who are living with a blood cancer or blood condition.
Over the past 15 years, Kiwis have registered, fundraised, organised Shaves and shorn their locks for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC).
It is an inspiring way to help fund research and provide vital care and resources for the 2500 people affected that LBC works with every year, and every dollar raised is another step in the search for a cure.
Chris also did the shave last year, and says this year she had donations from local businesses, including Te Puke Florist, Z Te Puke, Joy Sushi, King Flooring and Te Puke Dry Cleaners.
"I also had donations from visitors, relatives and a large number of my neighbours."
She says due to the Covid-19 virus and the lockdown in the care home, one of her activities staff, Debbie Bull, brought her own clippers in and cut her hair in front of a few residents, all nicely seated a few meters apart from each other.
"I wish to thank all those who made a donation to support such a great cause."
