Brekky always tastes better if it is earned.
There will be an opportunity to do just that late this month when Te Puke Squash Club hosts a Breast Cancer Foundation fundraising Pink Breakfast.
Organisers are encouraging people to walk the Te Ara Kahikatea pathway before heading to the club enjoy breakfast from 10am on May 30.
It is the first time the club has hosted a Pink Breakfast and club member Jenny Wotten came up with the idea.
She says she has relatives and friends who have had or who are going through breast cancer.
''I just thought it was really just a good opportunity for the club to do something that was quite different,'' she says.
''It's an opportunity to open our club up to a wider audience and also utilise the amazing pathway because it's so close to our club.''
She says the pathway takes in areas of the town not normally seen.
Everyone taking part in the event is encouraged to dress in pink and the walk will start around 9am.
Club members will follow the group to pick up anything that may fall off costumes such as burst balloons.
Back at the club two male club members have volunteered to don pink aprons and ''lots of juniors have volunteered to walk the food around''.
Tickets for the breakfast are $20 each and are being sold in advance with a maximum of 150 available.
For anyone who wants to walk but doesn't want a full breakfast or who might miss out on tickets, there will be a gold coin sausage sizzle.
There is also a link on the club's Facebook page for anyone who can't make it but who still wants to make a donation to Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand.
The walk and breakfast are open to all.
