Police have released the name of the man killed in a crash near Te Puke.

The man was 18-year-old Jasper Lewin Stamme, a seasonal worker from Te Puke.

Mr Stamme had been travelling in a vehicle when it was in collision with two others near Manoeka Rd, north of Te Puke township on Friday afternoon.

The crash prompted the closure of Te Puke Highway for several hours as police officers and other emergency services worked to investigate and clear the scene.

Police said in a statement thoughts were with Mr Stamme's loved ones during this sad time.
