Tauranga promoters Pato Alvarez and Mitch Lowe have added one of New Zealand's pioneer summer festivals to their already long and growing list of music events they run.

Alvarez, with Pato Entertainment, and Lowe, with Audiology, have bought 50 per cent of Raglan's renowned Soundsplash Festival and will help run the event with long-time organisers Brian Ruawai and Naomi Tuao.

Alvarez and Lowe are now are involved with nine Kiwi festivals, including Tauranga's One Love, Mount Maunganui's Bay Dreams North Island, Bay Dreams South Island, Storm The Gates, Soundsplash, Sonorous, Ohakune Mardi Gras, and two more to be announced soon. They also run more than 200 events throughout New Zealand every year.

Alvarez says he and Lowe are the biggest independent promoters in New Zealand and they are excited to have joined the team behind the iconic Soundsplash event, which has been running for 14 years.

"We are stoked to announce the partnership with Brian and Naomi," Alvarez said.

"They have some really cool things in place which give Soundsplash a nice vibe and energy. And we love that they've initiated a Zero Waste Policy," Alvarez said.

Next year, the boutique multi-genre event will be held in the Wainui Reserve, on Raglan's coastline, on January 18, 19 and 20 and both Alvarez and Lowe are looking forward to working alongside Ruawai and Tuao to uphold Soundsplash's reputation and to introduce some of their own touches, including even bigger production and a focus on families of all-ages, with R18 licensed areas.

As one of New Zealand's pioneer summer music festivals, over the years Soundsplash has hosted acts such as Six60, Drax Project, Shapeshifter, TEEKS, Ocean Alley, Sticky Fingers and The Black Seeds.
