The cost to host a Married at First Sight New Zealand couple in Tauranga has been revealed.

It cost Tourism Bay of Plenty $5385 to have a Married at First Sight New Zealand couple honeymoon in Tauranga, a six-month financial report to Tauranga's council has revealed.

The TV3 reality show couple Claire, 51, and Dominic, 58, stayed at luxury lodge Eagle Ridge and visited attractions including McLaren Falls, Harbourside restaurant, Mauao and White Island.

The episode screened in October.

Abby Parkin, Tourism Bay of Plenty's former consumer marketing manager, said last year there were great benefits being involved with the show.

"The show is globally recognised and has already secured a huge following in New Zealand. The domestic market accounts for 80 per cent of our total regional tourism spend.

"Being part of a production with prime-time viewing enables us to gain significant exposure, for the region and our operators, that we may not have otherwise been able to achieve."
