The man who crashed his car at Mount Maunganui earlier this month has died. Photo/Diana Wright

The Tauranga man who was seriously injured after driving into a parked car at Mount Maunganui has died.

Police have named the driver as Liam Cole Simonsen, 19.

Mr Simonson had been driving a Honda when struck a parked car and tree on Oceanbeach Road, Mount Maunganui at 4.02am on Sunday, June 7.

He died in Waikato Hospital at 5pm yesterday.

Western Bay of Plenty head of road policing Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said inquiries are continuing and no further information was available at this time.
