More than $81,857 has been raised in Tauranga for the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society's 2017 Daffodil Day campaign.
More than $8570 was raised in Mount Maunganui and over $1600 was collected in Te Puke during the month-long annual fundraising campaign which included a nationwide street collection on Daffodil Day,
August 25.
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported Daffodil Day this year by making a donation or by offering their time to help organise or collect on behalf of the Cancer Society," Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society fundraising manager Catriona Findlay said.
"From funding research and providing free support to people with cancer, to helping Kiwis reduce their risk through education and advocacy; every dollar will remain in the region to make a difference in our local communities."
The Cancer Society said funds raised during its iconic Daffodil Day fundraiser, which launched nationwide in 1991, will help the one in three New Zealanders affected by cancer.
