The man accused of the murder of 33-year-old Parkvale man Ilya Kojevnikov in an alleged hit and run incident in Welcome Bay Rd will defend the allegation at trial in September.

Raymond Green, 32, who appeared in the High Court at Tauranga today before Justice Timothy Brewer, has denied one count of murder and refusing to provide a blood specimen.

Green, who is accused of mowing down Mr Kojevnikov about 11pm on February 2 this year will next appear in the High Court at Tauranga on April 22 for a case review hearing.

An electronically monitored bail application is set down to be heard on February 22 with Green's attendance excused.

Justice Brewer set down a jury trial to commence in the High Court at Rotorua on September 28 this year.
