Tauranga lecturer named Woman of the Year

A Tauranga university lecturer has won a top award in the 2012 Next Magazine Woman of the Year awards.

University of Waikato Tauranga lecturer Chris Brough won the education category of the annual awards.

Ms Brough was one of five finalists in the education category and one of 30 finalists overall.

The winners were announced last week.

Ms Brough said she was absolutely stunned to be nominated and felt honoured to be a finalist alongside such capable and inspirational women.

In July, Ms Brough received one of 12 national Tertiary Teaching Excellence Awards, which recognises sustained excellence in tertiary teaching.
