A Tauranga Girls' College student will be representing New Zealand in Singapore in August at an international business competition.
Sophie Shrimpton, 17, will represent New Zealand in the Asia-Pacific final of the FedEx Express/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge.
She will join five other students from around the country.
Speaking tothe Bay of Plenty Times last week, Sophie said she decided to get involved with the challenge because she was interested in business and wanted to gain experience from the business community.
She is hoping to study commerce at Auckland University next year so believed the skills gained in the challenge would put her in good stead.
Sophie was chosen from 80 students who took part in Enterprise in Action over the weekend, held at Massey University's Auckland campus, and was only open to students taking part in The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme.
Young Enterprise chief executive Terry Shubkin said the calibre of students competing in the competition was "incredibly high."
