The benefit concert is at Our Place on March 21.

Music and a moment to reflect on the tragedy of the Christchurch mosque shootings is the aim of a benefit concert being staged to raise funds for the victims and their families.

The United For Christchurch benefit concert, hosted by Our Place Tauranga, will be held tomorrow from 6pm.

The Rising Tide entertainment manager Lisa Rooney said she was approached by local musician Damo Innes who wanted to organise a last-minute benefit concert for the families.

"It didn't take long to get together because there is so much support, so many people wanted to do something to help," she said.

Ahmed Ghoneim, the imam at Tauranga Mosque on 18th Ave, had also been invited to say a few words, she said.

Our Place director Rachelle Duffy said the event was to offer a chance for locals to pay tribute to the victims of the Christchurch mosque shootings.

"Even though we are so far away it is for people to feel like they can be part of the wider community and show our support," she said.

"It is a time for people to bond together around this tragic time."

The concert will start at 6pm and several local musicians will play throughout the night.
