A number of school records were broken at the TGC Competitive Swimming sports event.

A great turn-out of strong swimmers for the TGC Competitive Swimming sports resulted in some new school records.

In the junior age group, Olive Pearce won the 66m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 55m Butterfly, 133m Medley and Open age group 200m. She was also the junior champion and is the new record holder for junior 100m Backstroke.

In the same age group, Taylor Graham won the 66m Backstroke, 66m Breaststroke, and 100m Breaststroke.

In the intermediate age group, Kim Cadzow won the 66m Freestyle, 66m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, 66m Butterfly, and 133m medley.

Kim was the overall intermediate champion and also broke the record for 100m Backstroke.

Rebecca Barron won the 100m Freestyle, Abbie Mortimer won the 66m Breaststroke and Tabitha Marshall won the 100m Breaststroke.

In the senior age group, Ruby Mathews won the 66m Freestyle, 66m and 100m Breaststroke, and 133m Medley. She was the senior champion and broke two school record in 66m and 100m breaststroke.

Ella Moor was won 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke and 66m Backstroke with Erin Conway first in 66m Butterfly.

Congratulations to all girls who were first or second and qualified to swim at the Bay of Plenty secondary schools champs.

Athletics The qualifying girls from the TGC Competitive Athletics competed last week at the Bay of Plenty Athletics Championships, donning our classic blue singlets.

In the junior age group, Kayli Tuiraviravi won 200m, placed second in the 100m sprint and the Long Jump and Vanessa Williams placed second in the 300m.

The intermediate age group saw more great track success. Abbie Mortimer won the 800m race and placed third in 400m, Arleah Tippins won the 1500m and placed second in the 800m, Minardi Daniel won the Long Jump and placed second in Hurdles while Meila Eades placed second in the Triple Jump and third in the 200m sprint.

A number of seniors will go on to nationals with Kaylee Mudgway winning 1500m and placing second in 800m.

Ella Moor placed second in the 1500m and third in the 800m, Paris Heslop placed third in the 400m and fourth in the 800m, Ern Conway placed third in 1500m, Jaysha Tippins placed second in the 3000m and Taylah Stack placed third in Discus.
