Christmas shoppers could have been excused for wondering what was going on when an impromptu "flash mob" performed a seven-minute Zumba session in Mid City Mall on Saturday.
About 150 people took part in the Zumba performance.
More than 50 spectators stopped to watch the show.
A flash mob is a group of
people which gathers to perform a dance or an action to get reactions from unsuspecting people.
Rhythmz Dance Co's Carla Beazley organised Saturday's event, which she secretly began organising this month.
"It was really surprising, Everyone was totally up for it," she said.
Mrs Beazley and her husband, Teejay, taught the routine to their Zumba classes over several weeks.
Mrs Beazley said a flash mob "works in such a way that people are in everyday clothes and join in the dance at different times so it looks spontaneous rather than an organised performance".
As soon as the performance ended, participants gathered their belongings and left, departing in different directions.
"Even though the weather was bad we had such a good turn out.
"It was a lot better than I expected," Mrs Beazley said.
