The domination of the Bay of Plenty junior surfing team has continued, the squad winning the 2015 National Scholastic Surfing Championships on Friday at Northern Makorori, Gisborne.

Both Tiana-Breeze De Mooij and Callum Chuter finished runner up in their respective divisions at the event, helping the Bay to claim their fourth straight scholastic title.

Twelve regional teams took part in the event with 106 surfers in attendance.

A move to the northern end of Makorori Beach was made to give competitors better conditions in the dying swell of up to 1.0m. The break offered pristine long-running left and right handers throughout the morning with brisk offshore winds.

The title was not decided until the last final of the day where Bay of Plenty team captain Chuter got the edge over Taranaki surfer Isaac Kettle, with the two surfers placing second and fourth respectively.

Host team Gisborne finished runner up with two titles. Third placed Taranaki also won two.

It was the Bay's superior consistency which won it the title. Despite not earning any individual ones, members claimed six finals' berths.
