She documented her four week journey in photos on Instagram, where she calls herself "moon mother".

Having been open about grief after losing her mother, Hunter hints her soul journey was driven by this sorrow, culminating in the yoga teaching and "transcendence from fear, ignorance, grief".

Its a long way from the 80s when the girl from Glenfield in Auckland shot to fame after being spotted as "the Trumpet girl" in a Tip Top icecream advert.

She was signed to Ford models, and landed supermodel status when she became the face of CoverGirl, and then became a regular in magazines including Vogue, Elle, Sports Illustrated, and Harper's Bazaar.

She married rocker Rod Stewart when she was just 21 in 1990 and had two children Renee and Liam by the time she was 23. The couple separated after nine years.

In 2013, the supermodel was one of the judges in New Zealand's Got Talent.
