Fun, nostalgia and good times were had at the Whakamarama School centenary.
Former and current students spent Saturday taking part in activities to celebrate the country school's 100th birthday.
The day began with a powhiri with about 150 people, who were then entertained by some pupils.
A movie by ColinPettigrew and the Whakamarama Community Incorporation about the history of the area, particularly looking at the milling industry, was shown in one of the classrooms.
Displays of old and new photos were also set up in classrooms for people to look at.
In the afternoon current and former students took part in activities such as sack races, tug-of-war and egg-and-spoon races.
In the evening, the adults gathered for a meal and dance in the community hall. Yesterday tours of the area were held, guided with commentaries by local identities.
Principal Sue Waitai said it had been an amazing weekend, thanks to all the local parents who had volunteered their time and cooking skills to make the event a success.
