State Highway 2 crash: Two pedestrians dead after motorcycle crash in Bethlehem

Two people are dead after a crash involving a motorcycle on Friday evening on State Highway 2 near Bethlehem in Bay of Plenty.

The pair, who were pedestrians, were killed in the incident that occurred about 8.30pm.

Two other people received minor injuries.

A police spokesperson said the road was closed for some time while the Serious Crash Unit examined the scene.

Meanwhile, a pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle on the Waikato Expressway at Horsham Downs just after 12.15am today.

The road was closed while an examination of the area was carried out, police said, but was now open.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the crash," said police.
