State Highway 2 fatal crash at Whakamārama

One person has died in a crash on State Highway 2 at Whakamārama.

Emergency services were notified of the single-vehicle crash near Turner Rd about 10.55am, a police spokeswoman said.

The highway closed for several hours and reopened Monday afternoon, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency said.

A St John spokeswoman confirmed they had attended the scene but directed any other requests for information to police.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are under way.
