      State Highway 2 at Taneatua has reopened after a vehicle hit a bridge.

      The crash happened about 5:45pm on the Whakatāne River Bridge, White Pine Bush Rd.

      There are no injuries, however, police said the road would be closed while contractors assess the bridge.

      Police confirmed about 7pm that the bridge had been deemed safe and had reopened.
