State Highway 2 has re-opened following a serious crash near Aongatete earlier.
The road was closed for about four hours after a car and a ute collided around 11.20am near the intersection with Thompsons Track.
One person was airlifted to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition. Another was treated at
the scene for minor injuries.
Fire and Emergency shift manager Craig Dally said two people were intially trapped, in separate cars, and had to be freed by firefighters.
