A "a well-executed story with a very clever mix of choreography, movement and drama" has won an Otumoetai College team the top spot in the Tauranga 2015 Stage Challenge.

Last night, Otumoetai College Team 2 took out first place with their performance Behind Closed Doors Pick a Path in the RAW Division at the Tauranga 2015 Stage Challenge and J Rock.

Every day, 5760 children become orphans. The team's performance focused on the difference between what the public thinks and sees, and the reality of what actually occurs in orphanages behind their closed doors.

Event manager Sarah-Jane Phillips said: "Otumoetai College blew us away [last night] tonight, they gave 100 per cent, in each move they did! I loved watching their performance, they had me captivated from start to finish."

Performance judge Dave Wilson said: "It was a well-executed story with a very clever mix of choreography, movement and drama."

In a close second place was Aquinas College with their performance of 'The pressure to discover our true self'.
