A 35-year-old Tauranga man who was stabbed in the stomach and dumped at a Mount Maunganui service station in March is behind bars awaiting sentence on raft of driving and assault offences.
Regan Hone Hunter, 35, who clocked up his eight, ninth and tenth driving while disqualified offences between December
and January, has also admitted breaching prison release conditions, assaulting his partner, and twice breaching a protection order. Hunter, who pleaded guilty to offences in Tauranga District Court yesterday, was further remanded in custody pending sentence on July 30.
His younger brother, Phillip Wipatene Hunter, 29, who has been charged with stabbing him, has been committed to trial and is due back in the High Court at Rotorua on July 26.
