It runs from April 4 to 10 with fundraising initiatives and volunteer collectors across the country with the goal to raise $2 million. The donations will be used to buy ambulances and lifesaving equipment for communities throughout New Zealand.
St John Chief ExecutivePeter Bradley said demand for their services had never been greater and as a charity they relied on the generosity of the communities they served.
"We never take their trust and support for granted," he said.
In Bay of Plenty local rest homes, schools and preschools were already showing their support including The Sand Box Preschool, Maungatapu Preschool, Kids Space Early Learning Centre, Melrose Rest Home and Retirement Village, Te Puke Country Lodge and CHT Bernadette.
Have all signed up for 'Be seen for Team Green' they will dress in green and fundraise for St John.
St John Central Region Fundraising and Marketing Manager Vanessa Williams said it was amazing to have such community spirit and support joining them in their annual appeal.
"The local support means vital emergency services can continue in Bay of Plenty communities."
Annual Appeal fundraising in Bay of Plenty and surrounding areas will fund lifesaving equipment such as a paramedic's first response kit costing $3,500 which includes essential equipment for patient treatment.
Staff and volunteers will be out with collection buckets throughout the Bay from April 4 to 10. People can donate online at www.stjohnappeal.org.nz too.
