Police are warning motorists to take care if travelling on State Highway 29 on the Kamai Range.

A spill near the summit on the Matamata side of the range has made the busy highway slippery, causing some small car crashes.

Police have warned people to take care when driving int he area and to be aware of delays as roading contractors work to clear the spill.

About 10.30am a van and ute collided with each other, prompting the closure of one lane until the area could be cleared.
