Police and local emergency services responded to three motor vehicle-related incidents in the Western Bay within the space of 15 minutes last night.

That included a collision between a car and light truck on the Lower Kaimai Range.

Sergeant Wayne Hunter told a Bay of Plenty Times reporter at the scene that the occupants of the light truck - a young man and his baby, who were travelling up the Lower Kaimai highway - escaped serious injury but were treated at the scene by St John Ambulance staff.

Mr Hunter said the other vehicle involved had been heading in the opposite direction.

The second incident involved a collision between two motorbikes on the corner of State Highway 2 and Te Karaka Drive, Whakamarama, which was called in at 5.43pm.

Mr Summerville said the two motorcyclists were travelling in the same direction, and the injured rider was taken to Tauranga Hospital with minor injuries.

The third incident involved a collision between a car and a ute in Oropi Rd about 5.30pm but did not result in any injuries, he said.
