The big screen returns to the Mount Hot Pools tonight for the first of a series of screenings of concert films.
Music concerts on the outdoor screen are set to return to Mt Maunganui Hot Pools after a successful run last year, with this year's series carrying a tribute theme.
Concerts from the late greats such as John Lennon, David Bowie, Joe Cocker, Prince and Whitney Houston will fill the screenand provide perfect sounds to soak to.
Soak 'n Sounds was introduced to the Mt Maunganui Hot Pools last winter, meeting with a "fantastic response," says Bay Venues' Mt Hot Pools manager Matthew Strange.
"People came in groups with friends after dinner and some by themselves, giving feedback how revived they felt after relaxing back looking up at the stars, listening to their favourite tracks, hence the decision to again deliver what the public has indicated it enjoys," he says.
Soak 'n Sounds 2016 will be held on Thursday nights between 7pm and 9pm and the usual pool entry price will apply. The live concert DVDs will be shown on the 4m by 3m screen.
The tribute theme will have tonight's screening dedicated to John Lennon; August 25 to David Bowie; September 1, Whitney Houston; September 8, Joe Cocker; September 15, Prince; and on September 22 Icehouse, which will be playing in Whitianga and Taupo this year in the Summer Concert Series.
A double pass to the Summer Concert Series will be up for grabs for everyone who attends on September 22 Mt Hot Pools' event. A lucky person will also go home with the music DVD each night.
Matthew says Soak 'n Sounds appeals to a wide age demographic. Musicians featured last year included The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and Queen.
