More than 500 people pushed their personal strength to the limit as they competed in the CrossFit New Zealand Team Nationals in Mount Maunganui at the weekend.

With an audience of hundreds, loud and upbeat music encouraged crossfiters from all over the country to skip, squat and pull themselves to their physical best.

Eighty-four CrossFit teams from all over New Zealand travelled to ASB Arena to compete in the two-day crossfit nationals.

Tauranga and Mount Maunganui CrossFit co-ordinator Luke McGruer said the national competition saw all levels of competitors. "We've got teams from all over the country here just because it's an awesome weekend and they have fun, then you have other teams who are here that are serious and want to win," Mr McGruer said.
