This weekend's Tauranga Home Show is one event guaranteed to keep the entire family entertained.
If the $13,000 worth of prizes on offer are not enough to lure you through the door, then the hundreds of displays, demonstrations or activities are bound to grab your attention.
The three-day event gets under way
at Baypark tomorrow.
Live cooking demonstrations from the Bay of Plenty's own celebrity chef, Peter Blakeway, will be happening each day between 11am and 3pm.
Free chocolate and glasses of bubbly will be handed out in the Health and Beauty Zone, and live music and entertainment will also be provided.
Tauranga Home Show organiser Graeme Martin says bouncy castles and an animal petting farm will be set up for the kids, while the New Zealand Fire Service will carry out live fire fighting demonstrations at regular intervals.
"They have a mobile kitchen which they set alight to show how fast an oil cooking fire can take hold. It's quite spectacular."
The annual show, now in its 12th year, will provide inspiration for all homeowners.
Trade displays will showcase new kitchens, top bathroom ware, fabulous furniture, interior design tips, alfresco living, spas and pools, home heating, insulation, flooring, roofing products, home entertainment systems, home builders, heat pumps, double glazing and more.
Mr Martin expects up to 10,000 people will visit the Tauranga Home Show.
A new feature for 2011 will allow people to book their own mobility scooter for up to two hours to get around the show.
Five mobility scooters are available throughout the day and can be booked by calling Mobility Solutions on 575 2033 or 0800 002 884.
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter will also be on site, Mr Martin said.
"There's over 4000sq m of indoor exhibits in the pavilions and marquees and over 3000sq m of outdoor displays, food, entertainment and more," said Mr Martin.
