State Highway 29 at Tauriko is congested after a multiple vehicle crash.

A police spokeswoman said they were alerted to the crash involving multiple vehicles about 6am.

No serious injuries were reported but diesel was leaking from a truck involved, she said.

NZ Transport Agency earlier said SH29 had been closed to eastbound traffic and westbound lanes were open but heavily congested.

The agency said said the road had now fully reopened.

Meanwhile, police were called to a crash involving a motorcycle and a car, near the intersection of Eleventh Avenue and Norris St, just before 8am.

“The motorcyclists looks to have received serious injuries,” a police spokeswoman said.

A Hato Hone St John spokesman said one person was taken to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition.
