The annual Greerton Marist Sevens tournament will take place tomorrow at Greerton Park. Games begin at 12pm with semi-finals from 3pm with the main Championship final is set to kick off at 4.50pm.
There are 12 teams competing in four pools of three followed by semi-finals and finals.
With the BOP club sevens tournament just two weeks away there is a strong contingent on Bay of Plenty teams. Western Bay teams are Greerton Marist (two), Tauranga Sports, Te Puke Sports and Mt Maunganui who won their own tournament two weeks ago.
Rotorua is represented by Rotoiti, Waikite and Marist St Michaels and Eastern Bay with Whakatane Marist.
Teams from outside the area include Hinuera, counties Manukau powerhouse Manurewa and Mahurangi from Northland.
Greerton Marist club president Terry Meredith says the club was looking forward to the day.
'We are excepting a really competitive day with a number of teams able to take out the tournament. There should be some exciting rugby and I encourage people to get to Greerton Marist for a great afternoon of Sevens rugby," he said.
"The majority of games will be played on the club's number one field and the clubroom lounge would offer great viewing. "
