Save Emergency services have been called to a "serious incident" on State Highway 2 near Katikati.
It is understood three cars have crashed near the township.
New Zealand Transport Agency states "a serious incident has been reported in this area".
Emergency services are on site after Fire and Emergency were called
at 5.45pm.
A Fire and Emergency spokesman said firefighters were helping with traffic and it was understood no one was trapped.
