The Electoral Commission is reminding New Zealanders to have their say on the second flag referendum.

Voting papers should be completed and put in the provided return envelope by Monday, March 21.

"You need to make sure your voting paper is completed and back in the post before voting closes," said Robert Peden, Chief Electoral Officer.

"If you haven't received your voting paper yet, contact us urgently on 0800 36 76 56 so that we can check your enrolment and, if you're enrolled, issue you a replacement paper."

By last Wednesday, the Electrol Commission had received 1.6 million voting papers.

"We encourage people to get their return envelope into a postbox by next Monday, March 21" Mr Peden says. "That way you can be sure it'll reach us in time to be counted."

The preliminary results will be announced after voting closes on March 24, and the official results will be made public on March 30.
