“Police and Jaismon’s family are concerned for his well-being, and we would like to see him return home,” police said.
Coastguard NZ said coastguard volunteers are continuing to be available to support police as required.
Surf Lifesaving NZ eastern region manager Chaz Gibbons-Campbell said the search and rescue team from the Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Service were involved in the search with police and coastguard.
“The Western Bay of Plenty Surf Lifesaving SAR squad have been assisting police with the ongoing search for the missing man who was reported missing yesterday,” Gibbons-Campbell said.
“We think he went into the water on Thursday night, at about 10pm.
“The SAR squad have been assisting police today inside the Tauranga harbour around Chapel St and searching the bridges. They’ve had the police dive squad on board their IRBs doing sonar underwater searches.”
