Volleyball: The Junior A and Year 9 A teams went down to Wellington last week to compete in the North Island Junior Secondary Schools championships. The tournament was very competitive with a number of regions, specifically Wellington, improving a great deal from 2014.
Our Junior A team was placed 14th in division one, going down to local rivals Otumoetai College Junior A in the 13th/14th play-off. Our Year 9 A team won their last game to be placed 15th in division two.
This team continued to improve throughout the week and learnt a lot from being involved in this event.
Angel Haeata-Burrows and Mackenzee Harris have since been selected in the BOP U15 Development team.
They head off to compete in the IPC U15 Championships held in Auckland on December 19-20.
A highlight of the tournament was Angel Haeata-Burrows being selected by the tournament director and referee delegate to referee the division one girls' final.
This was a huge honour for Angel and she performed this role outstandingly.
Angel was awarded the Junior Girls Referee of the Tournament plaque.
Tennis: The Year 9 tennis championships were held last Friday, November 27.
Britney Emery won the singles with Cate Belton runner-up and Rebecca Kneale third. In the doubles, Britney Emery and Cate Belton won with Teagan Meyer and Anika Russell runners-up. Caitlin Robb and Amy Earles won the plate doubles.
The Year 10 championships were held on Monday.
Kalais Going won the singles with Grace Eades runner-up and Madeline Thompson 3rd.
In the doubles Grace Eades and Kalais Going won with Chanelle Barton and Madeline Thompson runners up. Erika McDonald and Jessica Tucker won the plate doubles.
Underwater hockey: At the U18 nationals in Wellington over the weekend the Mid Northern U18 team won gold and three Tauranga Girls' students Georgia Coughlan, Jordan Ross and Jerushah Keightley were named in the U18 New Zealand Development team.
