The Employer of the Year went to Trustpower, due to their programmes and initiatives for young employees.

Ryan Fowles, director of RZG Construction, was named winner of the Young Read Woudberg Business Owner at last night's Young Read Woudberg LinkT Awards and Ball.

Mr Fowles was the founding director of RZG Construction, an organization with a focus on concrete structures.

In a press release, the judges said they were impressed by Mr Fowles "entrepreneurial spirit", and the significant growth his company has had in a short amount of time.

"Ryan has grown the business organically and avoids external debt where possible by choosing to reinvest profits in plant and equipment. RZG was a company with six employees and now has a team of 16," it said.

Mr Fowles also received the Priority One Young Innovator of the Year, for his investment in a robotic total station, which helped the RZG's projects in accuracy and cost effectiveness.

It is the only construction company in the Bay of Plenty using a robotic total station.

The winner of the Holland Becket Lawyers Young Employee of the Year was chartered accountant Keryn (correct) Jarvis from Staples Rodway.

Ms Jarvis impressed the judges with her drive in her career, and her community involvement.
The Archistudio Social and Environmental Award winner was Kimberley Cleland of Night Owl Cinemas.

The Employer of the Year went to Trustpower, due to their programmes and initiatives for young employees, which included their young professionals group, graduate programme and summer internship opportunities.

Young Read Woudberg partner Eric Woudberg congratulated the winners of the awards.

"As proud supporters of the Young Read Woudberg Rocket Awards and Ball 2014, we are delighted to help with a programme that inspires young professionals to strive for and celebrate success."

"Congratulations to the Awards winners - we're sure this is a stepping stone to even greater business success."
