Marinigiwai Gardiner charges through the line during the Te Puna under-13 team's demolition of Rotoiti.
More than 100 hearty supporters have followed the Western Bay of Plenty under-13 rugby champions Te Puna to glory in Rotorua.
The team easily accounted for Central Bay champions Rotoiti, running out 64-7 victors to claim the Baywide crown.
Josh Leigh opened the scoring with a blistering run down the
touchline, with Javen Schuster judging the windy conditions perfectly to convert from wide out.
Kahi Borell was the next to score from a runaway, before Te Hiringa Hunt hugged the line and scored in the left-hand corner following strong forward play. Rotoiti regrouped through a try to centre Hemopo Cunningham, but Te Puna countered with a Cassius Porter try thanks to a clean pass from Reece Borell-Goosen.
Bernard Ormsby scored the last try before the break, giving Te Puna a healthy lead that was never to be threatened.
