Both the Bay of Plenty men's and women's sides will now prepare for the 2018 Bayleys National Sevens next month in Rotorua after a successful day at the Northern Regional Sevens tournament held at Memorial Park in Cambridge on Saturday.

The men's team ended the day in second place, being edged out behind Counties Manukau in a new format without finals, while the women lost to Counties Manukau in the third/fourth playoff.

Bay of Plenty 26 v Waikato 14
Bay of Plenty 29 v North Harbour 7
Bay of Plenty 17 v Counties Manukau 24
Bay of Plenty 14 v Northland 28
Bay of Plenty 24 v Auckland 20
