The last of the three people involved in a home invasion robbery of a Te Puke woman has avoided jail.
During the January 2009 aggravated robbery of a Te Aturoa Ave home, Kaye Crampton, 39, helped carry a stolen TV to a getaway van.
Crampton and her two co-offenders - Blossom Ronaki,
30, and Pirimi Robinson, 38 - turned up at the victim's home and tried to steal the woman's 4-year-old son's television, telling her she owed them money for drugs.
What followed was a heated exchange with lots of swearing and a prolonged "tug-of-war" over the television. The physical altercation continued inside the van when Crampton drove off with the victim and her co-offenders inside.
Eventually Crampton stopped the van and helped the victim unload the TV. Her co-offenders earlier received lengthy jail terms. In the Tauranga District Court yesterday, Judge Thomas Ingram sentenced Crampton to 12 months' home detention and 200 hours' community work, but warned her that if she breached her sentence in any way she could expect a jail term starting at two years.
