Rikirangi back in court

Mount Maunganui man Brian George Rikirangi, who is accused of setting fire to a pou carving he helped craft to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gate Pa, has been back in court.

Rikirangi, 53, who briefly appeared in Tauranga Registrar's Court on Monday, faced charges of wilful damage and wilful trespass.

Rikirangi was remanded on bail to reappear in court on June 5 when he is expected to enter pleas.
