Tauranga's Kathleen Kilgour Centre has been shortlisted for the finals of the World Architecture Festival.
Earlier this month, the state-of-the-art radiotherapy centre, designed by Wingate + Farquhar, won an excellence award in a national contest run by the Property Council of New Zealand.
The festival will be held in Singaporefrom November 4 to 6. The record number of 14 shortlisted New Zealand buildings doubles the seven New Zealand buildings shortlisted last year.
Kathleen Kilgour Centre will be joined by: the Christchurch Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre (display category); the Scrubby Bay House on Banks Peninsula (house category); the Olive Grove (hotel and leisure category), also on Banks Peninsula: all designed by Auckland-based practice Patterson Associates.
The Isaac Theatre Royal (old and new category) and the MIT Manukau & Transport Interchange (transport category): both designed by Warren and Mahoney.
Mapua Park Shelters (production energy and recycling) and Upper Queen Street, Nelson(shopping category): both designed by Irving Smith Jack Architects.
In Northland, RoreKahu - Marsden Cross Heritage Centre (civic and community category), designed by Cheshire Architects.
In Auckland, Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery (culture category) designed by and Mitchell & Stout Architects.
