Tauranga's Kathleen Kilgour Centre has been shortlisted for the finals of the World Architecture Festival.

Earlier this month, the state-of-the-art radiotherapy centre, designed by Wingate + Farquhar, won an excellence award in a national contest run by the Property Council of New Zealand.

The festival will be held in Singapore from November 4 to 6. The record number of 14 shortlisted New Zealand buildings doubles the seven New Zealand buildings shortlisted last year.

Kathleen Kilgour Centre will be joined by: the Christchurch Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre (display category); the Scrubby Bay House on Banks Peninsula (house category); the Olive Grove (hotel and leisure category), also on Banks Peninsula: all designed by Auckland-based practice Patterson Associates.

The Isaac Theatre Royal (old and new category) and the MIT Manukau & Transport Interchange (transport category): both designed by Warren and Mahoney.
