The Powerco/Papamoa Rotary Charity Golf Tournament at Mount Maunganui raised $12,000 on Sunday for charity thanks to the generosity of the 108 participating golfers from 12 clubs.

A large $5000 cheque was presented to Live for More Charitable Trust and a further $5000 was allocated to Papamoa Community Grants.

Powerco representative Chian Ho spoke of how proud they were to be the principal sponsor and how good it was working with Papamoa Rotary to raise money for deserving charities in the community.

Rotary president Russell Kilpatrick presented the $5000 cheque to Krista Davis as founder and trustee of the Live for More Charitable Trust. This trust takes at-risk young adults and empowers them to find freedom from drugs, alcohol and crime.

The overall winner on the day was Dave Gerrand with 41 Stableford points on count back from Bruce McCutcheon, JP Van Der Meys and Richard Russell. The best Gross for the day was shot by JP Van Der Meys with a great 77.
