Power out in Papamoa, Mount Maunganui

Power was cut to more than 300 properties in Papamoa this afternoon.

The power went out at 381 properties just before 5pm and Powerco estimated it would be back on about 10.54pm.

Power appears to have been restored to some of these properties before 6pm with 114 still without power.

Mount Maunganui has also been hit by a power cut, with 52 properties affected as at 5.32pm. Power to these properties was expected to be restored before 8pm.

A Powerco spokeswoman said at this stage they did not know the cause of the outage.

The Fire Service had not been called out to any incidents that would result in a power cut.
