More than one thousand people are without power in Katikati. Photo/File

More than 1000 homes in Katikati are without power this afternoon.

Powerco has reported 1154 properties in the Katikati suburb of Tahawai have been effected.

Power was reported to have been cut off at 2.41pm and was expected to be restored after 5.30pm.

The cause of the power outage is not yet known.
