Power cut in central Tauranga

Power was cut to about 700 customers in central Tauranga last night due to a fault on Powerco's electricity network.
Powerco network operations manager Phil Marsh said an underground cable faulted along 11th Ave, cutting power to the surrounding areas at around 5.05pm.
Supply was restored to the majority of affected customers by 6.10pm and all power was restored by 7.30pm, he said.
The faulty section of cable will be examined to determine the exact cause of the fault.
