Police name woman who died at Pilot Bay

Emergency services were called to Pilot Bay, Mount Maunganui, on January 9.

Police have named the woman who died in a water-related incident at Pilot Bay in Mount Maunganui.

Laushaun Ying Soon, 32, from Auckland was found dead in the water on January 9.

Police said a person was pulled from the water unresponsive and emergency services were notified just before 8.20am.

A police spokesperson said their thoughts were with her family and loved ones.

The death has been referred to the Coroner.
