The man who died after a motorcyclist crashed into a powerpole in Ruatoki can now be named.

He was 47-year-old Tomi Timoti, of Taneatua, police said in a media release.

The crash was reported shortly after midnight on March 6.

Inquiries into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
